Saturday
Celebrate Bunker Hill’s burgeoning collection of cultural institutions at Grand Ave Arts: All Access. The all-day block party includes free performances, exhibitions and tours at spots like the Broad, MOCA and the Music Center.
Munch on massive Middle Eastern burritos, unicorn elote and ice cream in a coconut during Feastown, a bi-monthly pop-up market at Hollywood’s Eastown complex.
Partake in the long-running Self Help Graphics & Art Día de los Muertos Celebration. This Boyle Heights Day of the Dead event has been going on for over four decades, and includes ceremonial altars and an animated procession through the Eastside.
Start the holiday season off right by learning how to make four holiday cocktails that’ll totally impress your friends during Cocktails, Crafts and Views at OUE Skyspace LA.
Head to the Hollywood Bowl for Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory in Concert. Watch the 1971 classic with musical accompaniment from Devotchka, as well as songs performed live by John Stamos as Wonka, “Weird Al” as the Oompa Loompas and others.
Swing by Chinatown’s Mandarin Plaza for Dopium Los Angeles, a one-night-only assortment of sculptures, paintings, photographs and video and light projections.
Sunday
See the anonymous collective behind the Griffith Park Teahouse breathe new life into the La Tuna Canyon burn area during Lost and Found L.A., a temporary art installation which fills cracks in scorched trees with ribbons of gold.
Make your way into the Santa Monica Mountains for Mercado Sagrado. This two-day nature-lovers’ market is a Shangri-La of local artisans, essence readings and all organic everything held at the historic Paramount Ranch.
Get out a bow tie and suspenders, and pull together a parasol and pearls for Dapper Day at Disneyland. This old timey event hosts a fashion expo at the Disneyland Hotel, as well as a meet-up at Disneyland itself—where the afternoon can move from cutesy to overcrowded real quickly.
Close out your weekend in Long Beach at ComplexCon. This world’s fair-like assembly of cutting-edge brands, art, food and music wraps up with a concert from Young Thug, M.I.A. and Gucci Mane at the Long Beach Convention Center.
