Friday
Start your weekend in Griffith Park at Odd Nights, a night market at the Autry packed with everything imaginable—beer gardens, live music, bounce castles, more than 200 artisan vendors—and then some (i.e. horse parking, yes, horse parking).
Scope out (and plunk down a few dollars on) paintings, posters and prints at the opening night of Jardin deLArte. See Grand Park bloom with this outdoor salon of local artists. Plus, see a special dance performance dedicated to artist Frida Kahlo.
Afterward, get weird at the Standard during 24HR Free 4 All, the return of self-identity-exploring ghost gallery 24HR Psychic. Basically, artist Lisa Solberg has set up a mystery gallery space in the Downtown hotel lobby that'll host performances from a revolving lineup of artists throughout a 24-hour period.
Close out the night at NerdMelt for another installment of Andy Kindler's Particular Show. The frustrated, self-defeated comedian is worth seeing in his own right, but Friday night's show has a can't-miss lineup with sets from Jen Kirkman, Mary Holland, Kate Berlant and more.
Saturday
Show your true colors on Saturday morning as the Color Run kicks off at Dodger Stadium. This beloved, messy event rewards runners with blasts of neon colors at every kilometer of a 5K.
Clean up and head over to Union Station for the Rioja Wine and Tapas Festival. If wine runs through your veins and you consider cheese and charcuterie a part of the food pyramid, then this is your moment to indulge.
Summon the courage for up-close encounters with crawly creatures at the Natural History Museum's annual Bug Fair. There's even a bug cook-off, where you can try fried, scrambled and seared insects.
Stick around Expo Park to see the arrival of the space shuttle external tank. The rusty-colored fuel tank is rolling its way along city streets to the California Science Center, where it'll eventually be displayed alongside the Space Shuttle Endeavour.
Make your way over to the Getty for free outdoor music and evening views of the city at the first night of Saturdays Off the 405. Warpaint bassist jennylee kicks off the summer concert series. Show up early to beat the traffic and crowds and to scope out the museum's exhibits.
Alternatively, try your hand at a self-described unfair game of skill as Rebel Bingo takes over an undisclosed Downtown location. This nearly unexplainable, expletive-laced dance party and competition resembles old folks' favorite game in name only.
Sunday
Start your Sunday out behind Google's Venice office for the return of the Venice Artwalk. The free fest includes food trucks, music and live performances, as well as auctioned opportunities to glimpse the underground Venice art scene.
Grab lunch and learn about sausage from around the world as Kimchi and Wieners invades the Theatre at Ace Hotel. Celebrate the release of Lucky Peach's sausage anthology with Korean-inspired dishes, beer, a copy of the book, karaoke and more.
Head into Hollywood to meet collectors, store owners and label reps at the WAX Record Fair. Held outside of the iconic Capitol Records building, this vinyl fair features DJ sets, signings and even tours of the studios.
Scope out landscape paintings that you know from once upon a dream as the Forest Lawn Museum presents Eyvind Earle: An Exhibit of a Disney Legend. The exhibition assembles 65 works from the late artist, including three background paintings from Sleeping Beauty.
