We curate an L.A. weekend itinerary of the city's best concerts, culture and cuisine, every week, just for you.
Friday
Start your weekend in Griffith Park for the latest edition of Odd Nights, a night market at the Autry packed with everything imaginable—beer gardens, live music, bounce castles, more than 200 artisan vendors—and then some (i.e. horse parking, yes, horse parking).
Celebrate the date on which James Joyce’s Ulysses is set during Bloomsday. The Hammer Museum marks the notoriously dense modernist novel with Irish food, music and pours of Guinness, along with dramatic readings.
Ride the monorail up to the Getty for Friday Flights. The first seasonal installment of this art-centric string of performances includes a somber, contemplative dance by artist Brendan Fernandes punctuated by music (and silence) from How To Dress Well.
Spend a late night at the Walt Disney Concert Hall and watch as the beloved Downtown cultural space transforms into an interactive performance space during Sleepless: The Music Center After Hours.
Saturday
Learn about how we document the wild critters that roam in our backyards during Picturing Urban Wildlife at the Getty. The panel about urban wildlife photography in L.A. features a number of notable photographers, including Steve Winter, who was responsible for the now iconic image of mountain lion P-22 in front of the Hollywood Sign.
Drink your weight in beer during the L.A. Beer Week kickoff. The nine-day program of special brews and seminars begins with an 80-brewery tasting party at L.A. Center Studios. If you're still thirsty for more, try pours from South of the Border during Mikkeller's Mexican Craft Beer Festival, with limited time food specials and drinks from five Mexican breweries.
Take a seat in Downtown's ornate Los Angeles Theatre for a Last Remaining Seats screening. Settle in for an evening with the 1948 Judy Garland and Fred Astaire musical Easter Parade.
Sunday
Chow down at Smorgasburg LA as the Arts District food market celebrates both Father's Day and its first anniversary with special guests Guerrilla Taco, Burritos La Palma and Ramen Burger.
Stick around ROW DTLA into the afternoon for LAWineFest. Raise a glass to to more than 30 wineries and and vino seminars during the second day of the weekend-long extravaganza.
Head to Pasadena's Paseo Colorado for the annual Pasadena Chalk Festival. Watch where you step as dozens of chalk art masterpieces cover the sidewalks during this Father's Day weekend tradition.
Swing by LACMA for the closing day of Moholy-Nagy: Future Present. The superb exhibition assembles more than 250 of the famed Bauhaus teacher and Constructivist pioneer's works, from lensless photograms to Plexiglass paintings.
Close out your weekend with a night at the LA Film Festival. You'll find a slew of premieres and showcases in Culver City and Santa Monica, including a panel about the L.A. Riots and screenings of the playfully unsettling Nocturne, the quirky and inspiring Sun Dogs and the brutal and experimental Thread.
