Friday

Start your weekend dancing among the dinosaurs during First Fridays at the Natural History Museum. Tonight's highlights include a look at the inspiration behind Hollywood props, a discussion about space and time travel in movies, and live music from Night Beats and Car Seat Headrest.

Revisit the Overlook Hotel during a screening of The Shining at the Old Zoo. Pack a picnic and bring a blanket for this Great Horror Movie Night series showing—just brace yourself for some ghastly surprises.

If you're too terrified of those twins and the imaginary Tony, spend the evening at the Fonda with Noel Fielding. The surrealist comic, and co-founder of the British comedy troupe the Mighty Boosh, offers a mix of stand-up, music and zany characters, like Old Gregg and the Moon.

Make it a late night for the next installment of Sleepless: The Music Center After Hours. Watch as the cultural institution transforms into an interactive performance space with live music, dancing in the Founders Room and more. Though advance tickets are sold out, a limited number of walk-up spots will be available.

Saturday

Slip into a new-old pair of worn-in jeans on Saturday morning at A Current Affair. This vintage-inspired pop-up is bringing clothing, accessories and jewelry to Downtown's Cooper Design Space.

Burn off calories while you're simultaneously chugging down a beer—we guess it works that way?—at the National Beer Mile. As the name implies, this one-mile fun run at the Coliseum includes a beer stop every quarter mile followed by an open bar after party.

Make your way into Hollywood to catch John Mulaney and Nick Kroll in their two-man show, Oh, Hello. They'll be setting up shop at the Ricardo Montalbán Theatre for a must-see comedy play starring their popular Kroll Show characters, the aging curmudgeons and Upper West Side weirdos George St. Geegland and Gil Faizon.

Brush up on your Jazz Age dance moves at the Roaring Twenties Street Jam. This three-day event is broken up into dance classes—think swing and the Charleston—and swanky soirees, including an intimate (and expensive) gala tonight at the Sowden House, along with a much more reasonably priced dance party at the Grace E. Simmons Lodge in Elysian Park

Sunday

Start your Sunday off with a sampling of fantastic cheeses and a selection of beers during the LA Cheese & Beer Hop. You'll be shuttled between Mumford, Iron Triangle and Eagle Rock Brewery; each location comes with four beer and cheese pairings.

If you're looking for a finer tasting event—not that we have any problems with beer and cheese—then head to the Rose Bowl for the inaugural Masters of Taste. The luxury festival features bites from Bernhard Mairinger at BierBeisl Imbiss, Brendan Collins at Birch, Neal Fraser at Redbird and plenty more.

Close out your weekend at the Cinefamily for the final night of the Wayne Federman International Film Festival. Federman, the comedian behind the eponymous film fest, invites fellow comics to pick and introduce movies that have personally influenced them. Tonight's lineup includes a Walter Matthau double feature, with Patton Oswalt introducing The Bad News Bears and The Taking of Pelham One, Two, Three.
