Sure, it’s a little early for Valentine’s Day, but for those always in the mood for pink-and-red hearts and all things romance, there’s a new pop-up bar that’s so cutesy it’s hard not to fall in love at first sight.
Palihotel Melrose just turned five, and it’s celebrating with a new series of concepts to fill the cozy space just off the main entrance of the hotel. First up in the rotation is Hart Throb Bar, a weekend-only, saccharine-sweet boîte serving boozy slushies, spritzers, cocktails and even love letters.
Roses hang from the ceiling, the walls are hued—what else?—“millennial pink” and hearts and endearing murals decorate the boutique hotel’s tiny bar. In one corner find a station devoted to love letters, where you can compose and mail a love letter to your own dearly devoted thanks to provided postcards and a dropbox.
The menu is designed in-house by the Melrose location’s team—which also oversees restaurant and bar the Hart and the Hunter, also within the hotel—and leans heavily on romantic literature and portraiture for inspiration; take a peek at the menu, in which each beverage is listed as though it’s a classical portrait’s Tinder profile. (We’d personally swipe right on the Evelyn, a spritzer of agave wine, elderflower, apricot bitters and sparkling wine.)
Drinks are all priced at $9 at the snug bar, which kicks off service on Saturdays and Sundays at 11am to coincide with the beginning of the Hart and the Hunter’s brunch. The Palihotel Melrose isn’t sure how long they’ll keep Hart Throb Bar before flipping it to another concept, so stop by soon just in case this love-inspired bar is but a brief fling.
Hart Throb Bar is now open on Saturdays and Sundays, from 11am to 6pm inside the Palihotel Melrose.
