There's a serious new cereal bar in Silver Lake

Cereal bars are still a thing; at least according to hip-hop producer Theo Martins, who just opened Cereal and Such in the back of streetwear shop Virgil Normal in Silver Lake. The tiny bar sits in a small shed (once used to serve coffee and juice) on the back patio of the shop, which previously housed Choke scooter shop.

The menu is simple: Apple Jacks, Cap’n Crunch Berries, Cocoa Puffs, Frosted Flakes, Honey Nut Cheerios and Lucky Charms. Milk selections include 2% along with non-dairy options like almond and coconut. The cereal selection will rotate regularly, and the menu may expand to offer more milk options (think macadamia nut and flaxseed) or even ice cream, according to Eater.

In addition to cereal, the spot will offer coffee and tea along with Cereal and Such swag like T-shirts, tote bags, mugs and bowls designed by Martins. The ceramics are a collaboration with Tactile Matter, a local ceramics studio. There will be music on the patio, plus board games for those really looking to unleash their inner child, as well as Wi-Fi for working cereal lovers.

Can't make it to the bar? Cereal and Such also hosts an eponymous monthly podcast, where Martins and his guests discuss creative endeavors, culture and, of course, cereal.

Cereal and Such is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 11am to 6pm at 4157 Normal Avenue in Silver Lake.
