Even for a family known for drama, last night there was a literal flare-up. DASH, a West Hollywood boutique owned by the Kardashian clan, was targeted by what police are calling an arson attempt around 11:30pm Monday.
While early reports suggested that an incendiary item hurled through the shop's Melrose Avenue window was a Molotov cocktail, the LA County Sheriff’s Department is now stating only that it was a "smoldering object" thrown by an unidentified male suspect, according to the New York Daily News.
Luckily for fans of Kim, Kourtney, Khloé and their fashion wares, no one was present in the building at the time of the incident and, while the front window was broken and some damage was done to the store, nothing caught ablaze. Responders were reportedly on the scene quickly after the store’s burglar alarm was triggered.
Sheriff's Lt. Edward Ramirez told the Los Angeles Times that they are particularly familiar with the shop as they are often dispatched for crowd control at the location any time the famous family is on site.
While no details or possible motives have been suggested by authorities in this incident, past protestors have targeted Kim Kardashian for wearing fur and animal-derived garments.
Opened in 2012 when the sisters’ original DASH relocated to West Hollywood from their previous Calabasas location, the store stocks an assortment of Kardashian-endorsed garb and is a popular attraction for legions of reality-TV fans and paparazzi.
