Even before taking a peek inside floral designer Nelson Pitts’ new L.A. digs, you know it’s something special. The hand-painted, color graphic facade—perfect for selfie backdrops, we might add—is only the preview to the whimsical arrangements, exotic blooms, cacti, handmade ceramics, and more you can expect to find at The Other Half.

Pitts, who first got into the floral business a decade ago, may have been previously best known for his immersive installations, like the magical garden that served as a backdrop for H&M’s recent launch party for the brand’s Erdem collaboration. But now that the former New Yorker is putting down roots in our city, his Koreatown space will serve as not only the studio for his fanciful, large-scale creations, but also a place to pick up premade and custom arrangements (the former starting around $45 and the latter around $175) and to shop for beautifully quirky gifts.
Pitts also plans to host events in the 850-square-foot shop and aims to add a new facet to L.A.’s floral offerings—one that seems to speak to anyone who thinks as outside the box as he does.
