The news has been out for a while now that the NoMad, New York City's legendary hotel and Michelin-starred restaurant, is going to be opening in Downtown L.A. in 2017. Construction is already under way at the 7th and Olive St location, but the NoMad team wants to get to know the city a little bit better first, and they're doing it in true L.A. fashion: with a food truck.
Launching this Thursday at the Line Hotel, the NoMad truck will be open Monday through Friday from 11:30am to 2:30pm. Each month the truck will partner up with a L.A. chef, who will then create his or her own version of NoMad's chicken burger—and since the truck is parking at the Line this month, Roy Choi is, of course, first in line. He's created a chicken "dumpling" burger made with shrimp, chili and ginger, a stark contrast to NoMad's traditional chicken burger (foie gras, truffle mayo, frisée and pickled shallots). Diners will also be able to order a Humm Dog (a bacon-wrapped dog with black truffle and celery relish on a griddled bun), a fried-fish sandwich with cabbage slaw, various vegetable options, French fries and Milk & Honey soft serve.
Future collaborations will be announced in the following weeks, but we're already psyched about sampling chef Daniel Humm's gourmet creations ahead of the restaurant's opening.
