If you've never seen women's roller derby, think female professional wrestling without the script and with a lot less body oil—and maybe more athleticism. Point being, it's pretty awesome, and this weekend marks the start of the 11th season for the LA Derby Dolls. It's the first time they'll be playing in their new home in El Sereno, a track that was made possible by a growing, passionate fanbase and over 800 crowdfunded donations. Not to mention, it was the players and their family and friends that built the new track by hand. Check out this time lapse of the derby track being built:

This weekend you can catch the Fight Crew vs. the Sirens, as well as the Jr. Fight Crew vs. the Jr. Sirens. General admission tickets are on sale for $15 and VIP tickets go for $35 (with senior and military discounts available).
