The first sign that the Purple Line extension is coming has arrived in the form of a giant metal beam.

The pile, which will eventually support the station at Wilshire and La Brea, was put into place earlier this week.

With 2024 Olympic bid dreams still alive, LA County officials have prioritized improvements to infrastructure around the city, and they are pushing their deadline for everything to be completed by the time the games would begin—the Purple Line extension will be installed in three phases and is expected to be complete by 2023.

Earlier this year, the Metro received a "C" rating on a statewide study released by UC Berkeley. Hopefully this massive project will help convince more people around the city that driving isn't the only option.
