If you've always wanted to travel back in time, the Petersen Automotive Museum is giving you that opportunity—well, kinda. The DeLorean DMC-12—yes, the same one used as the time machine in the Back to the Future films—is hitting the museum's showroom floor starting Friday, April 22.
To celebrate, the museum is holding a number of events: one will even transport attendees back in time to the film's Enchantment Under the Sea dance—you know, the one where Marty McFly's mom is trying to hook up with him in the backseat of a car. Partygoers are invited to dress up in their best '80s attire and rock out to Missing Persons and Back to the Future tribute band the Flux Capacitors. A full list of related events can be found on the Petersen Automotive Museum's website.
This will be the first time the DeLorean will be on display at the museum. You can find it on the first floor for the inaugural weekend, before it's moved to the Cars of Film and Television exhibit in the Hollywood Gallery on the third floor for the remainder of its stay. It's unclear how long the car will be at the museum, but given its ability to disappear in the films, we'd suggest getting your tickets soon if you're interested.
