Feeling a little frustrated or unsure how to help the situation unfolding at Standing Rock in North Dakota? We hear you. If, like us, you can't pack up and head for the front lines to protest the Dakota Access Pipeline in person, Monday night there's a way to come together as a community to help right here in L.A.
Echo Park's Stories Books & Cafe will be hosting a We Stand With Standing Rock fundraiser from 8 to 11pm this coming Monday, November 7, to raise both funds and awareness. The event will be hosted by artist Marcella Kroll, and boasts donation-based reiki treatments and tarot, oracle and energy readings from Sarah Faith Gottesdiener (@gottesss), Eliza Swann (@thecircularserpent) and Shabrena Monet (@shabreamonet), along with music and live story readings, and a silent auction of donated items including some beautiful local art. All proceeds from the donations and auction will go directly to the Standing Rock legal defense team. For more info, check out the FB event page here.
Can't make it on Monday? Give Stories a call and ask them if you can bring a donation in beforehand, or send a friend with some cash in your stead.
Want to do more? You can donate to the Sacred Stone Legal Defense Fund through their fundraiser webpage, or send supplies through the mail directly to protesters: Sacred Stone Camp, P.O. Box 1011, Fort Yates ND, 58538. #nodapl!
