As music festival season kicks into high gear, we're always happy to see the local upstarts continue to put together top-notch lineups—particularly with Music Tastes Good, which returns to Long Beach on September 30 and October.
A trio of '90s alternative obsessions—Ween, Sleater-Kinney and Ride—top this year's lineup, with additional sets from Charles Bradley & his Extraordinaires, Alvvays, !!!, Big Freedia, Dr. Octagon and Peaches as well as Los Lobos performing Kiko and Of Montreal playing through Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer.
Tickets go on sale Friday, May 12 at 10am. Single day tickets start at $65 and go up to $210 for VIP, while weekend passes will run you $120, or $370 for VIP. After two weeks, prices jump anywhere between $10 and $30, depending on the tier.
True to its name, the fest will feature a "Taste Tent" filled with what festival organizers have called a "port-to-port" collection of chefs from Long Beach and New Orleans. On the Long Beach side, that includes Roe's Arthur Gonzales, James Republic's Dave MacLennan and Kafe Neo's Gus Sverkos, among others. From New Orleans, chefs include Pop's Poboy's Collin Cormier, Willa Jean's Kelly Fields and Toups Meatery Isaac Toups.
While the KCRW-presented fest is set to return to Long Beach, this time around it's making the jump from downtown streets to the harbor-adjacent Marina Green Park—which still puts the festival grounds within a mile of the Metro Blue Line.
The early-fall festival will mark the one-year anniversary of the death of its founder and chief curator Josh Fischel. Music Tastes Good will honor his legacy by continuing to unite music fans, foodies and art patrons alike.
