Bon Appetit's annual Hot 10 list was released this morning, a collection of eateries dubbed the best new restaurants in America for 2015, and look! LA snagged not one but two coveted spots this year: Petit Trois and Gjusta. The pair, named #3 and #2 respectively, beat out Alimento and Jon & Vinny's, which were included on the semifinalist list a couple weeks ago. Al's Place in San Francisco was given the #1 spot.
It's yet another feather in the cap for Chef Ludo Lefebvre's Petit Trois, where his perfect omelet, decadent steak frites and lauded burger has been dominating the food conversation in LA for the past year. More surprising is Gjusta's win. The casual Venice cafe received heavy criticism when it opened for its overpriced items and lack of seating (milk crates, guys? Really?), but there's no denying that their baked goods, vibrant salads and cured meats have garnered a cult following. Their recent decision to expand to 10,000 square feet with seating comes just in time—for those who have yet to visit Gjusta, Bon Appetit's list will undoubtedly inspire a trip to Venice.
