Hot on the heels of The Spirit Guild's recent opening, a new micro-distillery called Our/Los Angeles has opened in the Arts District, offering visitors the chance to taste the locally-made, globally-conceived vodka and tour the facility on weekday afternoons. The spirit is part of Pernod Ricard's Our/Vodka, a global brand with local distillers in six different cities around the world (Detroit, London, Berlin, Seattle and Amsterdam all have Our/Vodka distilleries, while Miami, New York and Houston are in the works).
All Our/Vodka liquor is made with the same recipe, though there are a few tweaks made in each city to give the vodka a unique personality (Our/Los Angeles, for example, uses organic wheat from Idaho, while Our/Detroit uses corn). The LA branch was started by local entrepreneurs Steven Ocheltree and Tyler Simmons, co-founders of creative agency Sew, and is partly distilled, blended and hand-bottled in the modern space.
Visitors can stop by for tastings Monday through Friday, 1-5pm, or during the weekend by appointment. Tastings are $10; along with sips of the spirit, you'll also get a tour of the sleek distillery, designed by Brendan Ravenhill (lighting) and Stephen Kenn (furniture), with artwork from the Dave Frey Gallery. If you like what you taste, bottles can be bought for $20.
The Our/Los Angeles distillery is located at 915 S Santa Fe Ave in Downtown's Arts District, with tasting and tour hours from Monday to Friday, 1-5pm, and weekend and outside hours by appointment.
