After months of anticipation, Roy Choi and Daniel Patterson's LocoL opened to the public yesterday, drawing hundreds of people from the Watts community and beyond to chow down on healthy fast food like chili, burgers, chicken nuggets and $1 coffee. The line stretched for blocks, with the first customers showing up well before doors opened at 11am. There were plenty of familiar faces—Jon Favreau, Tyrese and LA's own Mayor Eric Garcetti, along with a slew of chefs including Duff Goldman and Bruce Kalman—and the entertainment ranged from a DJ that played throughout the afternoon to impromptu breakdancing.
Check out our favorite photos from yesterday's grand opening, and be sure to visit LocoL soon—it's currently open daily from 11am-10pm.
LocoL is located at 1950 E 103rd St in Watts.
