LACMA has debuted a brand new membership program, LACMA Local, designed to build a community that connects folks to one another, with the museum as a catalyst for forming new friendships. As a member, you'll meet like-minded art lovers at bi-weekly Saturday hangouts with different themes, often giving you access to parts of the museum that are otherwise off-limits or sold out (read: Rain Room).

The inaugural event on February 20, Seasons, will divide Local members into groups to tour specific works of art representing each season—and each tour ends with a visit to Rain Room. The March 5 event, Scavenger, invites members to experience the museum together through a list of prompts (think: take a selfie in the same pose as a sculpture, think of three songs that a certain painting reminds you of). On March 19, the Gehry event will bring members into the Frank Gehry exhibit, where they'll be given sketching materials to help inspire them. Then, they'll break into groups to create their own model version of a house or urban village. There's even an event during which members will sit in silence together at Levitated Mass and watch the sunrise (so LA, we love it).

As a LACMA Local, you'll be able to attend as many Local events as you'd like. You can add your Local membership to an existing museum membership for $25 per person, or join a la carte for just $40. Please excuse us while we sign right up.
