We already received news about one Portland transplant opening soon, and now there's word that another PDX favorite is opening in LA. Blue Star Donuts, Portland's beloved donut shop (that's right—move over, Voodoo), is slated to open on Wednesday, October 21 at a brick and mortar in Venice (1142 Abbot Kinney Blvd.). As a preview, Blue Star will open its doors for a few hours on Monday, October 19, starting at 9am, to hand out free donuts to locals until they run out. Free donuts! Who said Mondays suck?

The donut shop is known for its creative flavors like blueberry bourbon basil, hard apple cider fritters and piña colada, featuring a pineapple, coconut, rum and mint-flavored cake donut topped with shredded coconut. While most of the options initially offered will be identical to Portland's inventory, Blue Star will start selling LA-specific flavors down the line: strawberry shortcake, grenache ganache and mimosa—because we all know how much Angelenos love boozy brunching.

Blue Star's airy, 1,000-square-foot space will also be serving Stumptown Roasters coffee and cold brew for prime donut dunking. Once it opens, all items will be available to go from 8am-10pm, supplying Venice denizens with enough decadent carbs to get them through the day.

Get your free donut at Blue Star Donuts on Monday, October 19. Doors will open at 9am.
