There's a new gallery pop-up in town: Show + Tell Projects, a concept aimed at bringing together contemporary art, design and wellness, will open its doors to the LA art world for the first time Thursday evening. The 4,000-square-foot space in Little Tokyo will operate as an art and design store as well as a project and event space for collaborations, workshops and more.
The brainchild of arts and culture publicist Jessica McCormack and Creative Collective LA founder Mara Mehdy, Show + Tell "aims to present a distinct collection of art, objects, performances and events produced by LA's emerging and established creative talent." Every month the space will feature a new art installation; the inaugural presentation is a collaboration between furniture designer Taidgh O'Neill and Japanese ceramicist Shoshi Kanokohata. Photography by Regina Mamou will be on view in July, and a group show of local painters is slated for August.
The concept store, in the same space, boasts artists' books along with a curated selection of goods from local artists and makers: namely, for the opening, textile designers Matson + Palmer, High Density and Juniper & Fir.
In addition to exhibitions and shopping opportunities, Show + Tell will host special events and collaborations with artists, musicians, designers and other creatives looking for a platform to present their work and engage with the city. Also at home here is Mehdy's Creative Collective LA, a community-inspired group celebrating creative women across LA and hosting monthly events and workshops on everything from guided watercolor meditation to shibori dyeing.
Check out Show + Tell's opening night this Thursday, June 23, from 6 to 9pm at 374 E 2nd Street in Brunswig Square, Little Tokyo.
