Or really any other costume party, ever.
This Saturday, LA Opera is opening up its costume shop for a moving sale. More than 1,000 costumes—including some of the most beautiful ensembles worn by the world's greatest performers—will be up for sale. There will be full costumes ($25-650) as well as accessories, jewelry, fabric, shoes and more ($2-20). Even if you're not there to drop your last paycheck on a costume, make sure you check out the "Diva Rack," where costumes worn by superstars like Deborah Voigt and Plácido Domingo and more will be for sale ($1,000-5,000).
This is only the third costume sale in the company's history, so there will be some treasures from the opera's vault on the rack. Look for costumes from classics like The Barber of Seville, Salome, Lucia di Lammermoor, Orfeo ed Euridice and contemporary operas like The Turn of the Screw.
The sale is this Saturday from 10:30am-4pm in the costume shop parking lot, located at 330 South Alameda Street. Park on the street or in the Little Tokyo Galleria parking structure right across the street from the sale.
