All for the idea of haunted houses, but prefer to know that there will definitely not be weird strangers in costumes jumping out and actually touching you? Maybe a virtual reality haunted house is more your style. If so, you might want to hit up the VR haunted house dance party going on tonight.

A collection of 14 different virtual reality horror experiences will be set up at stations around the co-working campus CTRL Collective’s Playa Vista location for VRSCOUT Haunted Mansion. Guests can pop the HTC Vive headsets on and go into experiences so immersive and scary that an extensive legal disclaimer warns that participants might experience nausea and other effects.

When the headsets come off, there’s a real environment to experience. There will be art installations by Tyler Ramsey and other local artists on a “dark arts” theme. To dance away any frights, VICE has curated a stage of live music and DJ sets where performers will be integrating virtual reality tools and tech into performances.

Costumes are allowed for this Halloween party, but skip any face-covering masks or fake (or real!) weapons as neither will be allowed. Plus, you probably won’t want anything on your face or head if you’re planning to try a VR headset. Proceeds from the party will be donated to 826LA for their creative youth literacy programs, so you can party with a good conscience.

CTRL Collective Presents the VRSCOUT Haunted Mansion takes place tonight, Thursday, Oct 27, from 6:30pm to 1:30am at CTRL Collective Playa Vista, 12575 Beatrice St. Tickets are available online; admission is $35, attendees must be 21+.
