LA's otherworldly jacaranda bloom may be on its way off of the trees and onto the pavement, but the anonymous group behind the Griffith Park Teahouse isn't about to let those purple petals go to waste.

The art collective will be staging Petal Drop LA (02), a follow-up to this past winter's flower-filled alleyway, on Sunday, May 29. Starting at sunrise (around 6:17am), the public is invited to visit an industrial site near Downtown LA and its surrounding neighborhood to behold thousands of fallen jacaranda petals that've been collected, sorted and processed.

The location won't be revealed until sunrise on the morning of the event via the collective's social media channels (see below) and a recorded message at 323-905-4574. The "surreal factory" is expected to vanish by noon, if not before then, so set an early alarm if you want to witness the floral spectacle.

For the collective's previous project, Petal Drop LA (01), pink flower petals fell on a narrow Downtown alleyway for a single day only. The group's first installation, the Griffith Park Teahouse, was similarly short-lived as the unauthorized structure was ultimately removed from the park (it recently wrapped up a pop-up in San Pedro but has yet to resurface).

Petal Drop LA (02) takes place on Sunday, May 29, from dawn to noon in an unannounced area near Downtown LA. Follow the installation's Twitter and Instagram accounts for updates.
