Andrew was recommended by his friend Elliot: "I have this friend, Andrew. His charming personality certainly mirrors his past: West Coast chill punctuated with East Coast sensibility. He's hilarious—think John Oliver meets a hangry Tina Fey. He's also a bit of a boozehound in the best possible way, ready to bike across town to determine for himself whether or not LA's latest and greatest bloody mary lives up to the hype. Even though he's been in NYC and LA for the better part of a decade, fear not as his southern roots can be found in his love of college football (War Damn Eagle!) and his stumbled-out-of-a-J. Crew-catalog fashion sense. Bottom line: be prepared to try new things and have an adventure with Andrew because he's not one to sit back and watch a long weekend pass him by. Instead, you'll likely see him out and about, appreciating all the amazing things—both large and small—that southern California has to offer."
Here's Andrew, in his own words:
What’s your favorite neighborhood in LA? Koreatown. So many amazing new restaurants and bars, yet it still has this great culture that reminds me of NYC’s East Village.
Beach, mountains, or desert? I grew up at the beach in North Carolina so am a beach bum by nature, but give me a mountain cabin, roaring fire and s’mores and I’m a happy camper (pun intended).
What’s the most overrated part about LA? The weather. Eternal sunshine is nice but I do miss the occasional summer thunderstorm, especially at night while drinking a nice Malbec and watching a bad horror movie.
What are three must-have items you’d stash in your earthquake kit (aside from the necessities)? Bourbon, cheese and crackers… clearly my plan is to picnic during an earthquake.
What fictional LA character would you most like to spend the day with? Tie between Nick Miller from New Girl (he would teach me how to be cheap in LA) or Cher Horowitz from Clueless (I need help accessorizing).
What’s your ideal first date spot and why? First dates are usually awkward no matter what, so I like to do something interactive like playing darts or pool so there isn’t so much pressure on constantly keeping the conversation going.
What’s the best thing about dating in LA? If it goes horribly I have new material for that screenplay I’m never going to write.
Think you and Andrew might hit it off? Shoot him an email at southerncharmer85@gmail.com (include a photo!) and let the sparks fly.
