In the battle between East and West Coast, we usually cite In-N-Out as one reason why LA kicks New York's ass. That is, In-N-Out > Shake Shack. Well, now there's going to be an opportunity for a legitimate face-off. This morning, Danny Meyer's Shake Shack announced plans to expand to Los Angeles in 2016, setting up its first shop in West Hollywood at the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and West Knoll Drive.
"We’ve heard from our West Coast fans for years that they’d love a Shake Shack in California, and at long last, we’re delighted to say Shake Shack LA is on its way," said Randy Garutti, Shake Shack CEO. “Los Angeles is one of the greatest cities in the world with a culture like no other, and we look forward to being a part of the community.”
The first LA Shake Shack will follow in the footsteps of the chain's original design, an elevated version of the roadside stand. There will be dedicated parking (You love us! You really love us!) and a sizeable outdoor patio, and probably, in true Shake Shack fashion, some pretty massive lines. We'll have the Shack Cam bookmarked, though.
A Shake Shack in LA has been on our minds for a while now, and we can't wait to inhale a Shack Stack doused in ShackSauce on our own turf. What about you? Are you going to give the East Coast transplant a try, or will In-N-Out always have your heart? Let us know in the comments below!
