Put aside the loyalty you feel for your neighborhood liquor store—the one that you run to before every potluck and birthday party—and consider Hi-Lo for a minute. The liquor market recently opened in Culver City and hopes to become everyone's new go-to booze shop, offering everything from local gins to freshly pressed juice (because, you know, L.A.).

Opened by Talmadge Lowe and Christopher Harris, the 1,500-square-foot space features a well-curated selection of beer and liquor, many of it made in California. Shoppers can peruse from shelves stocked with Angel City, Kinetic Brewing, Smog City and the Dudes beer, plus Astral Pacific Gin from The Spirit Guild and Loft and Bear Vodka, among others. Mullholland Whiskey, which is finished in Downey, appears on the shelves, as does Mosswood Whiskey from Berkeley. You'll also have the opportunity to build your own six-pack of craft beer, as well as shop among a selection of cocktail accessories including bartender tools, bitters, glasswares and anything else you might need to stock a home bar cart.

And about that pressed juice: Hi-Lo offers non-alcoholic goods in their deli selection, including salads, sandwiches and gourmet bites. A selection of pressed juices is offered alongside a freezer filled with Jeni's Ice Cream, and event-catering and bar-stocking services will also be available.

Hi-Lo isn't stopping at Culver City, though; they have their eyes set on expansion in 2017, with shops scheduled to open in Highland Park and the La Brea/Fairfax District this year. This summer, you'll also be able to stop by for tastings at the shop's bar. So, uh, your old liquor store? It has a lot to live up to.

Hi-Lo Liquor Market is located at 8582 Washington Blvd in Culver City. Hours of operation are Sun 10am-8pm, Mon-Thu 9am-9pm, Fri-Sat 9am-10pm.
