LA isn't exactly known for being a pedestrian-friendly city, but in fact, there are a number of neighborhoods that are quite walkable. And what better way to be environmentally friendly while also working on your fitness than walking to your destination? If you're still reluctant, at least give it a try and celebrate National Walking Day, which happens to be today! Get up and head to one of these totally walkable neighborhoods to explore the area on foot.
1. The Arts District: Find an abundance of new breweries and art galleries here, or just check out the street art and people watch as you walk through this Downtown neighborhood.

3. Manhattan Beach: Whether you stick to a walk on the Strand or go perusing the 'hood's adorable shops, Manhattan Beach has a lot to offer—but be prepared for a hill or two.
4. Santa Monica: Take a stroll along the beach to the Santa Monica Pier, then check out the Third Street Promenade and its surrounding area, or head to Montana Ave for a slightly less touristy stroll.
5. Silver Lake: Silver Lake has three or four different hip, historical and walkable areas to amble around, including the Silver Lake Reservoir and grassy Meadow. Plus you'll get to check out all the 'hood's niche little shops and stop for a latte or two at one of the area's many coffee shops.
6. Hollywood: You'll get to see the stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and get up close and personal with the, er, unique characters along Hollywood Boulevard—if that's your thing. Or, explore the 'hood's
