KROQ has just announced the lineup of their annual two-night music festival extravaganza, Almost Acoustic Christmas. The 16 bands run the gamut of eras and sub-genres from 1990s alternative to fairly current electro-pop, likely to offer up something for most fans who keep the rock station on their radio dials.
Night one, December 10, will feature Blink 182, Kings of Leon, Jimmy Eat World, AFI, X Ambassadors, M83, GROUPLOVE and the Strumbellas. Come back for the second night on December 11 and you’ll be treated to Green Day, Beck, Weezer, Bastille, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, Phantogram, Bishop Briggs and the Head and the Heart.
If you’re on the fence, keep in mind that proceeds from the ticket sales will go to a good cause. A portion of the sales from the first night will be donated to Para Los Niños, a family services organization, and sales from the second night go to the Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center, serving youth of South Central Los Angeles.
Tickets for the mega-concert at the Forum will go on sale Friday, November 11 at noon with each night ticketed separately, so you can choose the bands you prefer or buy tickets to both. They’ll run you between $75 and $150, but for the best shot at securing your spot, sign up now for the station’s email list to receive a password you’ll need to get into the sale.
