It's a bird, it's a plane, it's ... a Naval test fire? The Internet lit up Saturday night when a glowing ball rocketed through the sky over Los Angeles.
The Orange County Sheriff's Department has since confirmed that the mysterious light is a "Naval test fire off the coast. No further details."
But the hullaballo leading up to the official word was entertaining: celebrities including Kelly Oxford and Lena Dunham posted images and videos of the strange, seemingly supernatural light.
"I'm not saying it was a UFO, but this doesn't look like any meteor I've ever seen. I've seen a lot. I'm Canadian," Oxford wrote.
"My friend Ian and I just saw this in the sky above east LA. Can anyone explain it?" Dunham added on. "Seriously it was a blue ball of light that spread wider and wider for about a minute then faded as the center continued to travel. Was I abducted!?"
If you ask us, the conspiracy theories are more fun.
