The Oinkster is celebrating their annual Burger Week starting today and, this year, the theme is taking on a global twist. It’s “around the world in seven burgers” with each of the creative, occasionally-crazy specials for which Burger Week is known taking their inspiration from a different part of the world.
Today’s burger is Russian-inspired, so we’re not at all sure why they’re calling it the Make America Great Burger. It features a panko-crusted, herb-butter-stuffed chicken Kiev patty, topped with mushroom stroganoff.
Tuesday, Oinkster goes to Italy for the Mangia Mia!, a classic beef patty topped with Pomodoro sauce, provolone cheese, Italian beef and peperonata, served on slices of garlic bread. The burger-makers stay in Europe for Wednesday’s French-inspired offering. The Oui Love It is a beef burger piled with béarnaise sauce, sautéed mushrooms and gruyere cheese on a brioche bun (which makes it sound like it could give any of the most decadent bistro burgers in L.A. a run for their money).
On Thursday, Oinkster teams up with Grill ‘Em All for a special collaboration burger. Taking cues from Mexican cuisine, the Xibalba is a Pambaso-style burger with chorizo, guajillo chilies, salsa verde, lettuce, picked red onions and cotija cheese.
Get a taste of trendy Filipino fare with Friday’s Bicol Express Burger, a pork patty drenched in a stew of pork, coconut milk and shrimp paste, along with garlic aioli and fresh tomato on a pan de sel bun. Korean flavors appear on Saturday’s option, the Seoul Food Burger, with bulgogi beef, kimchi pickles and Korean salad.
Stamp your burger passport one last time on Sunday, with the Home Sweet Homeburger, inspired by the good ole’ U.S.A. Munch a chicken-fried beef slab, slathered with mashed potatoes, bacon gravy and fried green tomatoes.
