Union Station's earth-tone waiting room is a sublime space as is, but it's managed to mold itself into the perfect canvas for unexpected programming, from Prohibition-era parties to silent operas

The latest comes from the musical tastemakers at dublab, who are curating Music for Train Stations, a weekly series of live musical performances and sound installations inside of Union Station's grand waiting room. Like Brian Eno's Music for Airports—which actually graced New York's LaGuardia Airport in the 1980s—the online radio station's series is meant to be a calm and disarming alternative to the transit-induced chaos you'd normally find during rush hour.

The free performances take place every Friday in March, between 4 and 6pm. Union Station is a bit of a beautiful architectural mutt—with Mission Revival arches, Streamline Moderne signage and Art Deco details—which should be the perfect setting for an equally eclectic musical lineup. Check out the full lineup below:

March 4: DJ set by Ale with a live performance by the spacey and spontaneous outfit the Tenses

March 11: DJ set by Richard Cartier with a live performance by meditative duo Electric Sound Bath

March 18: DJ set by Carlos Niño with a live performance by electro artist Stellar Rahim

March 25: DJ set by Victoria O’Halon with a live performance by the genre-hopping Mark Van Hoen
