Sneaker-heads are about to have a new shopping destination in DTLA with the arrival of a hybrid retail store, fitness center and hang-out space dedicated entirely to Jordans. The project is in the works for a building located next to the Palace Theater on Broadway, which would be totally redeveloped from the ground up.

Jordans, the Nike sub-brand named after basketball star Michael Jordan, are a coveted item amongst sports fans and sneaker-obsessives alike, which is why the Foot Locker retail chain decided it was time to give them a store all their own. But, just as ol’ M.J. was no typical basketball player, this won’t be just any typical shoe store.

In addition to the storefront retail space, Curbed Los Angeles reports that the upper levels of the building will be converted to include a 1,369-square-foot fitness center, locker rooms and a lounge area equipped for VIP guests. On the rooftop, expect a full basketball court with bleachers for spectators and a snack bar offering concessions (we just hope no stray balls go flying past the baskets and down to the pedestrians on the street below).

The building itself was erected in 1928 during Broadway’s first boom and was remodeled in 2012, but the storefront has been vacant since 2014. While the proposed, jumpman-emblazoned overhaul would bring in more light and other updates, the general look of the original building will be kept intact, and is expected to be topped off with a retro-styled neon sign to match with the neighborhood’s historic design guidelines.
