Delta's Snapchat scavenger hunt could lead to your dream trip

If this summer didn’t include the vacation of your dreams, Delta Air Lines is dangling the possibility that you might still be able to turn it around with their Delta DreamHunt contest. The Snapchat-based scavenger hunt starts today and offers a chance to win a bunch of prizes, including first-class airfare or tickets to attend the GRAMMY Awards.

Here’s how it works: Delta picked influential locals including Nasty Gal’s Sophia Amoruso, Broken Spanish’s chef Ray Garcia and YouTube-dominating pop duo Karmin to help the airline spread clues across social media channels directing followers to locations around Los Angeles. Once there, you’ll be able to pick up limited-time-only Snapchat geofilters created by Delta. When you find the filter, create a snap and send it along to Delta’s new Snapchat account.

Resist the temptation to use your Snapchat soapbox to get snarky about your last flight delay or lost luggage, by the way (we know, it’s hard). The contest’s official rules explicitly state that any use of the filters to disparage the sponsor will be tossed out.

The scavenger hunt is part of Delta’s “Dream Up, LA” marketing campaign, designed to highlight the airline’s presence in the city. Since 2009, they’ve been the fastest-growing carrier flying out of LAX. Soon, they will be moving their 175 daily departures leaving from the airport to a new complex at Terminal 2 and Terminal 3, right after it gets a $1.9 billion dollar upgrade.
