A craft fair, a beer garden and an afternoon by the beach? Sounds like a perfect day to us.
A new community festival dubbed ARTsea is set to take over Marina del Rey on June 10. The free music, art and craft fair will take place at Marina Beach, the sole sandy cove in Marina del Rey's sheltered harbor, as well as its surrounding parking lots.
ARTsea's most notable feature will be a pair of pop-up markets at the adjacent County Lot 10. Galleries from around the city, including BBQLA, Early Gravy and Gallery1993, will present select pieces and collections in a mini arts district. The same space will host a maker's market with crafts from L.A. artisans alongside participatory workshops such as a cardboard aquarium, fingerprint mural and landscape painting session. Hit the sand to scope out in-progress creations from a professional sand sculptor.
On the music side, you'll spot hula shows from Halau Keali'i O Nalani Dancers, an interactive hip-hop jam session from Versa-Style Dance Company and DJ sets from KCRW's Anthony Valadez and Soft Rock Sunday's Mara Schwartz Kuge.
Though the food lineup has yet to be announced, ARTsea promises a gathering of 10 food trucks plus a beer and wine garden.
ARTsea takes place on June 10 from noon to 10pm at Marina Beach (4101 Admiralty Way). Admission is free.
