While you’re out enjoying the music at the Arroyo Seco Weekend festival next month, you won’t have to worry about finding something great to eat. A collection of L.A.’s best restaurants will be on site selling a variety of delicacies, but we’re particularly excited about a selection of picnic baskets crafted by some of our favorite local chefs.
These gourmet baskets seriously elevate the picnic game. Each includes a food bundle for two with entrée, salad, sides, snacks and desserts. Each basket comes with two vouchers for drinks of your choice, picnic supplies and some extra festival essentials.
On offer are the Mediterranean Basket by Tal Ronnen of the vegan Crossroads Kitchen, Barrels’ Best BBQ Basket by Rory Herrmann of Barrel & Ashes, Beachside Basket from Jason Neroni of Venice's Rose Cafe, the Classic French Bistro Basket by Walter and Margarita Mazke of République, and the Angeleno Picnic Basket by Neal Fraser of Redbird. The chef-curated picnics run $100 to $120 plus fees per basket and must be reserved online between June 1 and June 21. The exact contents of each basket have yet to be revealed, but we would feel pretty comfortable trusting any of those culinary rock stars to pack us a lunch.
In addition to the name-brand baskets, a more traditional basket known as the Festival Basket will be available for $80 plus applicable fees, and can be reserved in advance or purchased on site during the fest.
You don’t have to order a basket to eat well at Arroyo Seco Weekend, though. If you just want to grab a quick bite on the go between sets rather than spread out your blanket, you’ll find plenty of options. Participating restaurants include Union, Sweetfin Poke, Sotto, Chego, Dog Haus, Sawyer, Kogi, Genghis Cohen and the NoMad truck. A selection of natural wines and craft beers curated by Beer Belly will wash it all down.
Arroyo Seco Weekend takes place June 24 and 25 at the Brookside parkland at the Rose Bowl, featuring performances from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Alabama Shakes, Dawes, Mumford and Sons and more.
