Get ready for a scorcher, LA! After recent days of chill and gloom, predictions are saying we’re in for a very abrupt arrival of summer—which officially begins June 20—that will make up for a cooler spring.
Just how hot are we talking about? The forecast has temperatures hitting as high as 102 in Downtown LA and 108 in the Valley by Monday. Might be time to invest in some linen office attire. This also might not be the time for that Palm Springs getaway; weekend temperatures there are expected to hit as high as 115. The coolest locale on NOAA’s SoCal predication list is Pismo Beach, which is set to stay at a downright chilly 73. The National Weather Service’s Twitter account has also been alerting people to the upcoming heat wave.
If you're brave enough to venture outside, be sure to keep yourself sun and heat safe. Also keep in mind that a hot dry spell like this when we’re already in an unusually high fire risk period can make things extra dangerous.
If you're looking to cool off, consider making your way out to the beaches or cooling off in a great pool. If both of those options prove too crowded, there’s always ice cream (or sitting directly in front of a blasting air conditioning).
Don’t worry about the heat spike too much, though. This wave is expected to break early next week and the region will return to more seasonal temperatures. That said, summer is clearly here, for real, so get ready to make the most of it.
