6 ways you could spend your 'fall back' bonus hour other than sleeping

When the clock strikes 2am this Sunday, it will be time to “fall back” an hour to Pacific Standard Time. So what will you do with that extra hour that comes around just once a year? If your first inclination is to just keep on drinking at your favorite bar, don’t count on it. While some places may stay open, it’s technically illegal for them to do so ever since an act of the California state legislature clarified that particular point. Given that, we’ve rounded up some alternative suggestions.

Keep dancing.

Try Avalon Hollywood, Los Globos, Sound or other venues that hold after-hours licenses. They may not officially be able to sell you a drink in that extra hour, but you’ll probably be dancing enough not to notice.

Get a tan.

How can you get a tan in the dark of night, you might wonder? Well, it turns out that Angelenos crave their faux-glow at all hours and a mobile spay tanning service called On the Go Glow will come to you any time. It’s like Uber for bronzing, though unlike Uber, probably not the best call to make if you’re already tipsy.

Throw a pot party.

As in ceramics, guys. Bitter Root Pottery specializes in workshops and practice spaces for budding ceramicists and the Beverly Grove location of their mini-chain offers all-night access for members to swing by and work the clay.

Make your escape.

Escape rooms are all about solving a puzzle before the clock runs out, so why not spend your extra hour breaking out of a haunted recording studio with your besties? Escape Room Games in Studio City stays open until 3:30am.

Smoke a hookah.

If you’re into lounging around with a flavored water pipe, most local hookah spots stay open until 4am on Sunday mornings, so you can puff the wee hours away.

Go to the dentist.

Always making excuses that you haven’t made that dentist appointment because you just don’t have time in the day? Well, now you have an extra hour and Dr. Bernard Baseri, DDS is open all night on weekends. Sure, you probably still won’t go, but the point is that you could.
