6 things to do if you're dateless on Valentine's Day

You’re single, and it’s almost Valentine’s Day. I’m not trying to depress you...just stating facts. We’ve been marketed at since December 26, and it’s just about time to face the music before we can quit complaining about this over-commercialized holiday and go back to complaining about all of our friends getting engaged.

Instead of being the Queen of Darkness this February 14, here are a few ideas to lighten the mood and actually enjoy the day.

1. Plan a Galentine’s Day. Host a Galentine’s Day get-together with your best gals! There’s nothing quite like a distraction from your loveless life like planning a party. It’s the perfect excuse to drink the night away and stuff your face with chocolate.

2. Or a Gallontine’s Day. If you don’t feel like socializing, grab a gallon of ice cream and visit your Netflix queue for the ultimate binge-fest. Eating the entire gallon is not advised, but impressive if you do.

3. Dance the day away. Bars are crawling with fellow singles on February 14. Last year, I did the twist to some golden oldies at Harvard & Stone and it was a blast.

4. Go to the movies. Personally, I can’t wait to go see 50 Shades of Grey alone on Valentine’s Day. If your heart isn’t quite that dark, grab a pal and catch a flickThe Last 5 Years comes out Valentine’s weekend, too!

5. Do that thing. You know, the thing you’ve been meaning to do but keep putting it off. Whether it’s checking something off your LA bucket list or starting the book that’s collecting dust on your nightstand, today’s the day.

6. Indulge. Who needs a Valentine to get chocolates or flowers or lingerie? Treat yourself!
