Koreatown was once at the center of the LA riots just two decades ago. Now, the densest packed area of LA is thriving with 24-hour bars, Korean BBQ restaurants and coffee shops. Given its history and the development in the area, Koreatown is ideal if you're on the apartment hunt and on a budget. Here are three one-bedrooms that are reasonable, stylish and within walking distance of the best of Koreatown.

1. The Avalon Apartments ($1050/month).  This pet-friendly building has renovated apartments with granite countertops, hardwood floors and panoramic views from upper floors. Even with the contemporary upgrades inside, the building still has a cool old-LA exterior. (324 S. Catalina Street)

2. Mid-Wilshire Apartments ($1099/month).  Hardwood floors, parking and laundry facilities. Oh, and if you like being outside, there is a courtyard and sundeck. If you need to keep within a smaller budget or need more space, the building has studios and two-bedrooms as well. (3251 W. 6th Street)
