Orange wine is one of those "trends" that's much more than a passing phase in the beverage world. The natural white wine, colored by grape skin contact, can increasingly be found by the glass and the bottle—all funky and in a range of body, flavor and tone—with no sight of ever slowing down.
There's so much variety, in fact, that now there's a monthly subscription service dedicated to orange wine, and that company is headed to L.A. for a 20-wine pop-up this month.
On February 20, Orange Glou will take over the Sunset Strip's gorgeous Eveleigh restaurant and patio for a night that's all about orange wine and California varietals: Expect nearly two dozen pours from Golden State makers such as AmByth, Donkey & Goat, Dirty & Rowdy, Lo-Fi Wines, Los Pilares and more, with a few of the winemakers in attendance to talk method.
Every ticket to the Orange Glou event includes one full glass, plus snacks from Eveleigh and a souvenir glass, so you can toast this orange-wine swirl soirée, and all the orange-wine parties in your kitchen from here on out.
