Matthew Biancaniello is all about produce- and herb-forward cocktails—so much so that he visits at least five farmers' markets a week to make them. For two weeks at Culver City spot Akasha, you can sip them for yourself because the bartender behind Malibu's Mon-Li cocktail tasting menu—which was sadly closed too soon by a fire—is popping up for a special four-day drink menu.
On July 15, 16, 22 and 23, from 4 to 8pm, stop by Akasha's newly reopened patio or order drinks to-go during Biancaniello's Eat Your Drink pop-up, which will feature savory-tinged, à la carte concoctions such as the Green Oasis, made with ume-and-seaweed–infused tequila, plus aquavit, lime and green juice; the Peach-Shiitake Old-Fashioned, which infuses bourbons with shiitake mushrooms and peaches and blends them with angostura bitters and orgeat; and a Pimm's Cup that involves cucumber, shiso and lime.
Enjoy with a few Akasha pizzas, tandoori-spiced chicken wings, or farm-fresh salads, for best results.
