Is it a living room or a classroom? A bar or a scene from Jumanji? It's hard to tell at Apartment A, a jungle-inspired event space from consulting group Cocktail Academy. The Downtown loft has been transformed into an intimate venue where pop-up dinners, lessons on mezcal variations and coffee tastings all take place. Founded by Cocktail Academy's Mathew Landes, Brandyn Tepper and Max Kestenbaum, Apartment A is the latest in custom event spaces, and one we're whole-heartedly behind. Here, quality food and even better booze take center stage, whether it's in the form of a history lesson on the Bloody Mary or a private party where up-and-coming chefs can test their menus out on adventurous eaters. More than anything, we love the homey feel to this once-bleak warehouse: a random collection of coaches and chairs are scattered beneath hanging plants, while ivy creeps up the side of exposed brick walls.
