Time Out says

Forget about farmers’-market-fresh heirloom tomatoes or whatever’s in the new-item display at Trader Joe’s: Our latest L.A. market obsessions are made entirely out of plastic bags.

Enter the Plastic Bag Store, an installation from artist Robin Frohardt that recreates cakes, sushi and pantry staples out of plastic bags. Every single item on display, from a box of Yucky Shards to a bottle of Bagorade, has been created from discarded, single-use plastics that’ve been scraped off the streets or pulled from dumps.

You’ll find the environmentally-minded experience in the Arts District at 661 Imperial Street (which just so happened to once be a market, Urban Radish). Timed tickets are required, and $10 donations are suggested. If you want to see the whole space literally come to life, look out for ticketed performances ($35) a few times a day that animate a darkly comedic tale of the overabundance of plastic waste.
