Doug Aitken takes art to the rails in a cross-country chromatic streak: Each of the nine stops on this light up train, from New York to California, mounts site-specific performances and installations from contemporary artists and musicians. While the ticketed event in LA is sold out (Beck fronts a stacked bill with Dan Deacon, Sun Araw & the Congos and No Age), you can still show up for the free sculptures outside of Union Station. In the spirit of the transient trip, artists Kenneth Anger, Urs Fisher, Liz Glynn, Carsten Höller, and Ernesto Neto have all created takes on a yurt—the Central Asian nomadic shelters—that visitors are invited to interact with and explore.
