Variations of the adage about the pen being mightier than the sword encircle this impeccably installed selection of work by the late Scottish artist and poet Ian Hamilton Finlay. The glue in the exhibition comes from Finlay's 'Definitions', a series of wall texts that lend highly idiosyncratic meanings to words. We read that 'Guillotine' is 'the highest peak of the mountain; and its deepest ravine'. Which is not to be confused with 'Temple, n. a marble edifice, a veined edifice; the seat or summit of reason'. (MC)
