Bordering some of the world’s best amusement parks, Osceola County is an obvious place to stay if you’re planning a family vacation that’s all about the kids. Consider Osceola your passageway to Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, SeaWorld Orlando, LEGOLAND and more fun-filled activities. More low-key (but just as thrilling) themed attractions that are nearby include the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and Florida Drive-Thru Safari Park. And the best part? Booking a family-friendly Airbnb in Osceola is a way more affordable option than booking a room at one of the park resorts, and this way you get a whole house to yourself – including a private pool, in most cases.

Most of the Airbnbs in this list are in the city of Kissimmee, located on the northwest shore of Lake Tohopekaliga. It’s known as the vacation capital of the world, and that’s not only due to its close proximity to top entertainment destinations; the city itself has a lot to offer, from world-class shopping to dining and a buzzing nightlife district – not to mention the sun’s (almost) always shining. You can also get your nature fix with scenic trails, lakefront vistas and airboat rides that involve gator-spotting. Kissimmee’s Old Town is also worth a visit for its 80s nostalgia and old-school carnival rides, alongside affordable shops, restaurants and bars that offer a real taste of local life.

The waterfront villa with a heated pool

Vacations with the kids can be a little chaotic, but at least with this Airbnb, you’ve got a lake to look out onto when you need a moment’s peace. Keep an eye on the little ones as they splash around in the heated pool, all while taking some time for yourself on the sun beds set against a natural landscape of tranquil water and lush greenery. Extend your period of relaxation with a quality night’s sleep in the king bed – and as for the kids’ all-important sleeping arrangements, there’s a Mickey Mouse-themed room with two double beds (and a TV), making it suitable for older children too. Everything about this home is bright, welcoming and functional; the kitchen is full-sized and comes with a number of baby products from plates to a bottle sterilizer. A coffee maker and dishwasher are also available to lend a helping hand. The washer and dryer may come in useful if you’ve got a messy brood and there are extra toys in storage if they’re not distracted enough already. The BBQ grill is on standby when the weather permits, and the nearby playground is ready to tire out the tots if you’re not already headed to the famed theme parks.

Rooms? 3 bedrooms. Sleeps 8 guests.
Location perks? Just minutes from the Disney parks with 3 parking spots available on-site.
Time Out tip: Heating the pool costs an extra $35 per day and takes 48 hours to take full effect – recommended between the months of October and April.
