Winter Sun

Be enticed by the glow of this hearth-like commission which will create an event space and bar in Granary Square this winter. The collaboration between artists James Bowthorpe and Kim Coleman and architect Andrew Lock is inspired by our need for light in these dark and dingy months, and the 18-metre wide circular structure amid the square's trees is surrounded by 12 glowing 'suns' emultaing natural light. The centre of the structure will house a bar serving specialist hot and cold cocktails and traditional British food such as pies, scotch eggs and sausage rolls. The influence of sunlight continues inside in the design of the bar and even the staff uniforms. Gold lamé, perhaps?
