This annual Valentine’s Day treat in the grand environs of Greenwich’s Old Royal Naval College is like something straight out of a rom-com. The UNESCO World Heritage Site hosts an uber-romantic dinner among the sumptuous Baroque artworks of Sir James Thornhill on display in its magnificent Painted Hall. Often referred to as south London’s answer to the Sistine Chapel, it’s a seriously atmospheric place to woo your lover. But it’s even more special than usual this year. As well as being greeted with champagne, and serenaded by live piano music as you enjoy a three-course feast, but you’ll also get the chance to bask in the warm glow of artist Luke Jerram’s solar sculpture Helios, on display in the Painted Hall until March. And when the night comes to an end, you’ll be sent on your way with a single red rose. Totally dreamy.
