Touching the Book: The History of Literature for Blind People

Thanks to a donation from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Birkbeck College are able to curate this exhibition on the history of embossed literature for the visually impaired. On display are the first embossed bibles, early classbooks, writing devices, pamphlets and images, mapping the development of finger-reading practices throughout the nineteenth century to the present day.
