Negroni Week, a celebration of the zesty Italian Campari-based cocktail, is happening from June 4-10. There’s no shortage of great variations on the drink in the capital, from the classic to the inventive.

To get involved in the negroni celebrations, try our selection of the best places in London to enjoy the drink. And if this taste of the Italian aperitivo inspires you to explore Florence, the birthplace of the negroni, we’ll reveal how everyday spending can help you collect Avios to get you there sooner (also check out our top spots to try aperitivo in Florence).

Three unmissable negronis

This place is designed like a railway station bar from 1950s Rome and supervised by cocktail king Tony Conigliaro, so you’re in safe hands. Take your negroni as it comes (classico), richer and more intense (robusto), with a pink peppercorn (superiore) or a rosebud infusion (rosato) – or try them all, then buy the beautifully labelled bottled versions to take home.

Gin, pollen vermouth, propolis, Ceylon arrack, Campari and aged honey make the Dandelyan negroni a bittersweet treat. Legendary multi-award-winning bartender Ryan Chetiyawardana (aka Mr Lyan) has created a polished, honey-infused version for the Dandelyan menu. Drink it on the candy-pink sofas alongside one of the best river views in London.

There’s no negroni listed on the pared-back menu at Swift, but don’t let that put you off. The cult Soho bar from the team behind Nightjar and Oriole will make you the classic cocktail, and their take on the negroni is one of the best we’ve had anywhere (you’ll also look like a total pro for ordering it). Like its surroundings, the Swift negroni is dark, delicious and a bit mysterious.
